Brilliance by Marcus Sakey

Lets see...how do I start this review... Brilliance. It was brilliant? haha that was cheesy, but really it was a phenomenal book. It is nothing like anything I have read or watched before. Some people relate it to Heroes, but honestly I don’t see it at all.

GoT characters that should have been in the show *SPOILERS*

*THERE BE SPOILERS AHEAD!*

Obviously when it comes to TV shows and Movies the creators have to learn to decipher what can stay and what needs to be cut to stay on track with storyline, production, budget, and I am sure a ton of other things. Game of Thrones, being the immense universe it is, challenges the creators with making tough decisions on which characters to keep in, which to cut out completely, and when to use one character’s storyline on a different character (this will be explained a little later, if you don’t quite know what I mean.. I would say they have been doing a magnificent job on this, however, there are always the few characters that you wish you could see come to life on screen.
Alex and I put our minds together and came up with this list of our favorite characters in the books that we have yet to see come to life.

Top 10 Harry Potter Side Characters

If you haven’t noticed from my many posts about Game of Thrones, I only have a few select specialties when it comes to truly geeking out. I never used to really like, or was able to appreciate the world of fantasy. When the Harry Potter series first came out I was hesitant to even give it a chance. Once I did, however, it changed my world! I have fallen in love with the world of fantasy now. I love to get lost in another world and pretend I am a part of it all. I wanted to write an article that had something to do with Harry Potter, but wasn’t quite sure how because it is not exactly a recent thing.

I have decided to put a list together of my top 10 favorite side characters in the Harry Potter universe.
Note: I had some help from my good friend Claire when trying to think up some of these characters. She is an even bigger Harry Potter nerd than me or anyone I know. Anyway here it is!

Game of Thrones: Where is the TV Show Going Next? *SPOILERS*

Game of Thrones, as most of you know, is HUGE! If you haven’t heard of it you probably live under a rock. I have talked in my other blog before about the many different facets of media George R.R. Martin has his foot in with this story. He has the original novels, a comic series, a TV show, and even a video game. I have been watching the TV show and slowly been reading through the novels. I am finally on the 5th book, A Dance with Dragons, and have been realizing a few things in the TV show that are different. Obviously there have been differences between the two, but they have always been small tweaks that haven’t affected the storyline much. The differences the I have noticed recently have made me wonder just where the TV show is going to go in the future. That being said, there are going to be *SPOILERS* for those people reading this who haven’t read all the books, or only watch the TV show.

Game of Thrones: Characters the Show Made Me Love

Now that this season of Game of Thrones is starting to come to an end, I thought it would be fun to write an article about characters from the series that are not as spotlighted in the books as they are in the show.

I feel that with any adaptation, some streamlining needs to be involved, so a lot of characters get cut, leading to other characters to gain importance. A lot of the characters on this list had the benefit of gaining scenes in the TV adaptation due to the exclusion of other, less important characters. These are the characters that were marginally important in the book, that got revamped and just all of their scenes in the show.

Anime Boston 2013 Cosplay

Okay so I forgot to mention in my little blurb that I enjoy watching anime as well. This past weekend I went to Anime Boston which is, as you probably can guess, an anime convention! I have been to this convention for the past 3 or 4 years now and every year I find something even more fun and new in the world of anime. What I love about Anime Boston is that there is something for everyone. Even if you do not know a lot about anime, there are panels about the history of certain things in the anime culture, panels about video games, about cosplaying, about stage fighting, and just about anything else you can think of. If none of that is your scene you can always just walk around the artist’s alley and dealer’s room and see all of the cool merchandise and artsy things that people make by hand. Still if you aren’t that into artwork, then the costumes that people dress up in (and put the effort into making) are ALWAYS awesome to witness. This year I actually remembered to take some pictures of some of my favorite cosplayers, and thought it would be really fun and cool to share the pictures with other people too!
